  • Oklahoman landscape artist Wilson Hurley dies in Albuquerque
    Wilson Hurley, a native Oklahoman and an award-winning landscape artist, died this morning in Albuquerque, N.M. He was 84. Hurley, who was born in Tulsa, painted murals that hang in the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Museum and has paintings hanging in the Oklahoma State Capitol. ?With art, regardless of the efforts and the shenanigans you go to make it, you don?t want the public to see it,? Hurley told the Oklahoman in 2005. ?The last thing you want people to say when they look at it is, ?Boy, that guy worked hard? and ?Boy, that sucker?s big.? You want them to just get absorbed.? Hurley had been diagnosed last year with Lou Gehrig?s disease.

  • Schultz drops suit against Oklahoma City team's ownership
    The last legal loose end over the NBA franchise's relocation to Oklahoma City as former Sonics chairman Howard Schultz withdrew his lawsuit against the Oklahoma City ownership group of the former Sonic. According to the Seattle Times, Schultz said rulings by Judge Marsha Pechman made his case more difficult and as a result, "our legal team and I no longer believe we can be successful with this litigation, the newspaper reported. The report also noted that Schultz didn't want to have a "continuing adversarial relationship with the NBA" which could hurt Seattle's efforts to get a team in the future.

  • Authorities say former CEO embezzled company funds
    Authorities today accused former Quest Resource Corp. chief executive officer Jerry Cash of moving millions of dollars of company funds into an account he controlled to use for personal expenses. Cash several years ago moved Quest money to an account he controlled, according to a petition filed today in Oklahoma County District Court by the state Securities Department. Since at least 2005, Cash each quarter wrote checks to Quest ranging from $400,000 to $10 million from his account, the petition says. The day after the end of each fiscal quarter, Cash would wire Quest funds back into his account to cover the checks he had written, the petition says.
