  • On-duty Okay reserve officer arrested for DUI
    WAGONER (AP) ? An on-duty reserve police officer in Okay has been arrested in Wagoner for driving under the influence and carrying a firearm while committing a crime. Okay Police Chief Terry Hornbuckle says 26-year-old reserve officer Matthew Pruegert was arrested Thursday morning at a convenience store by a Wagoner officer who smelled alcohol. Hornbuckle says Pruegert was driving an Okay police car and wearing a gun and badge and uniform shirt at the time. Pruegert was booked into the Wagoner County Detention Center and later released on $3,000 bond. Okay is a town of about 600 seven miles north of Muskogee.

  • Woman's body found this morning in northeast Oklahoma City
    Police say a woman with "obvious signs of trauma" was found dead in northeast Oklahoma City and officers are going door-to-door looking for clues. The woman's name and age haven't been released. Sgt. Paco Balderrama says police the woman's boyfriend called police Thursday morning and said he had found her dead.

  • Oklahoma foster system in "severe disarray," lawsuit claims
    TULSA ? Nine Oklahoma foster children were bounced around among 176 primary caseworkers because of ?severe disarray? within DHS, attorneys said in documents filed Thursday in Tulsa federal court. The state Department of Human Services also had 125 secondary workers and 190 supervisors overseeing care of those children, documents reveal. ?These staggering numbers reflect severe disarray in the basic oversight of children in state custody,? the children?s attorneys stated. DHS spokesman George Johnson said Thursday he had not seen the court filings and could not comment. The disclosures came in an ongoing federal lawsuit filed by attorneys associated with Children?s Rights, a New York-based child advocacy organization.
