  • Oklahoma City police officer kills man who threatens him with a knife
    A police officer shot and killed a man he said charged at him with a knife this morning in a northwest Oklahoma City apartment. The name of the officer and the victim were not released. The officer was not injured. The shooting happened about 5:30 a.m. at Country Oaks Apartments, 3101 NW 150Ö about one-fourth mile west of May Avenue, police Capt. Steve McCoolÖ said. A man called police and said his roommate was threatening to kill himself with a knife, McCool said. When the officer went into the apartment, the victim was cutting himself. The officer told him to put down the knife, but he charged the officer. The officer fired his gun several times, striking the victim, McCool said. Paramedics were called, but the man was dead at the

  • Inmate found dead in Stephens Co. jail
    DUNCAN -- An inmate who had been under suicide watch was found dead in his cell at the Stephens County Detention Center.

    The medical examiner's office says 33-year-old Terry Manuel Jr. of Walters was found hanging from bed linens inside his jail cell about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

    A spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a jailer had checked on Manuel less than an hour before he was found.

    Manuel had been held until Tuesday at the Comanche County jail in Lawton where officials say he was under suicide watch. Manuel was moved Tuesday night to the jail in Duncan, where he was found dead just hours later.
