  • OKC officer shoots man in Warr Acres
    WARR ACRES- An Oklahoma City police officer shot a man at an apartment complex in Warr Acres on Saturday night.

    The officer was patrolling when he heard what he believed to be multiple gunshots in the area of the Twin Lakes apartment complex, 6329 NW 63 at 10:20 p.m., police Capt. Steve McCool said.

    Once there, the officer saw a man who was driving erratically back into another car.

    The man got out of his car and ran and the officer chased the man before shooting him, McCool said.

    The injured man was taken to the trauma center at OU Medical Center.

    Two passengers in the car with the man were detained and questioned by officers, McCool said.

  • Historic homes get shot at future
    While taking a stroll with her father in Louisville, Ky., a young Sheila Spurgeon noticed a three-story building that was burned. She could see straight through the charred facade and thought, "Somebody needs to do something. Why doesn't someone save this building??

    Now 54, the lifelong advocate of historical buildings and homes hopes to do her part to preserve some of Oklahoma's historic places as the new executive director of Preservation Oklahoma Inc.

    Spurgeon traveled "all over the U.S. because my dad was a chaplain in the Army.

    Aviation hall adds honorees
    DAYTON, Ohio ? Stunt pilot Sean Tucker, who has thrilled air show audiences with daredevil moves in more than 1,000 performances, said he got his start by trying to face his flying fears.

    Tucker, 56, of Monterey, Calif., was among pilots and aviation pioneers being inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame on Saturday.

    The others included Herbert Kelleher, co-founder of Southwest Airlines Co.; Col. Clarence "Bud? Anderson, a military pilot who flew in both World War II and the Vietnam War; and the late naval aviation pioneer William Moffett.
