  • Medical examiner: Woman in baby mystery positively identified as 18-year-old
    PITTSBURGH - The woman whose body was found with her uterus cut open in the apartment of a woman who had a baby that wasn't her own has been positively identified, the Allegheny County medical examiner said Sunday.

    Dr. Karl Williams, the medical examiner, said the identity of 18-year-old Kia Johnson was confirmed with dental records. She is from McKeesport, just outside Pittsburgh.

    Johnson's body was found Friday in the Wilkinsburg apartment of Andrea Curry-Demus.

    Investigators are trying to verify whether Johnson was the mother of a baby boy that Curry-Demus, 38, took to a Pittsburgh hospital Thursday.

  • Accidents late Friday kill two Oklahomans

    Two people were killed on wrecks late Friday on state roads, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

    Dead are:

    Talia Harvey, 18, Ponca City.

    Harvey died at the scene of a two-vehicle wreck south of Blackwell in Kay County, the patrol said.

    About 5:10 p.m., Harvey stopped at a stop sign on Hubbard Road at U.S. 177 and then failed to yield to a pickup driven by James Burnett, 46, of Blackwell, the patrol said. The pickup struck Harvey's car on the driver's side, pinning her inside.

    Harvey's passenger, Courtney Hughes, 17, of Blackwell was flown to a Wichita, Kan., hospital in critical condition, the patrol said.

  • OKC officer shoots man in Warr Acres
    WARR ACRES- An Oklahoma City police officer shot a man at an apartment complex in Warr Acres on Saturday night.

    The officer was patrolling when he heard what he believed to be multiple gunshots in the area of the Twin Lakes apartment complex, 6329 NW 63 at 10:20 p.m., police Capt. Steve McCool said.

    Once there, the officer saw a man who was driving erratically back into another car.

    The man got out of his car and ran and the officer chased the man before shooting him, McCool said.

    The injured man was taken to the trauma center at OU Medical Center.

    Two passengers in the car with the man were detained and questioned by officers, McCool said.
