Poor Customer Service/Hoorible VIP service
Reviewed by Elizabeth Riesenbeck, 2008-10-13 13:28:37

I do not recommend this establishment. My friends and I reserved a VIP area for my birthday on a Saturday early October. My experience with VIP reservations include establishments like City Walk where special treatment is given to the party in a private area. When I called Skky Bar, I was told there were available cabanas on the deck where our party would receive attention and have privacy for $150. The marketing representative mentioned that service would be provided and there was a bar right next to the cabana. In addition to this, we would receive 6 free admissions.

A few of us arrived early to ensure everything was in order. We did not have to pay because there was no one working at the door at the time, cover was free. We asked the lady working the bar about our reservation, she said just go outside and look for my name. We saw 2 cabanas completely unmarked and unoccupied. Our cabana was the one closest to the main door and highest traffic area. There was a piece of paper taped to the wall with my name on it. As we sat down, I was a little perplexed that the general public was allowed to sit in the unmarked cabanas, which were away from the main door.

As we sat there, more of our friends started to show up. I asked them when they arrived if they got in for free, they said no. One had asked the person at the desk and they said the 6 free admissions had been used, which was false.

As the night went on, I saw no one in the area to service our party. When I inquired about it, I was told we weren’t entitled to service because there was a bar available on the deck. However, they sent out a waitress anyway to appease us. When she arrived, she announced to the party “I have been told that evidently you guys feel you need special service!” She was extremely condescending and rude. The party ordered a round of drinks; my friend gave her his card to avoid separate checks because she seemed so annoyed. She brought the drinks out, made no attempt to remove any empty glasses or bottles from our table and left. She was never seen again and it took my friend an hour and a half to find her to get his card back.

As the crowd started to build and the line to the bar was strung out next to our cabana, our privacy was diminishing. We all had to wait in long lines to get a drink. All the other cabanas were occupied with the general public who paid a trivial general admission and got the same experience. When I again addressed my frustration with the manager, she basically ignored it.

The next weekday, I called the marketing representative to express my concerns. I felt I paid $150 for nothing and I was so disappointed that I felt my birthday was ruined. She gave me the following responses to the respective complaints:

The public sat in the same cabanas for free – well they WERE reserved but there were last minutes cancellations

We got not service – There is a bar on the deck and when you do the VIP thing outside, you don’t get service. Her comment was “It’s sort of an LA-New York kind of VIP experience where people just want to be left alone” (for $150?)

The waitress was rude – She wasn’t supposed to be out there working so she was probably frustrated from being taken away from her inside customers

What did I pay for? – She said basically a place to sit and then insulted my intelligence by saying that people are not allowed to sit anywhere at Skky Bar unless they have VIP reservations

I asked if I could receive a refund or at least a partial refund. She said their policy is no refunds regardless of the reason but she would talk to the owner and get back with me. That was 2 weeks ago and I haven’t heard a word nor received any credits to my account.

If you want a good time and a positive VIP experience where you get what you pay for, DO NOT CHOOSE SKKY BAR! However, if you want to throw $150 out the window and watch the guy next to you having the same experience for the price of cover, GO FOR IT!

Skky's Ultra Story

Skky bar isn't that bad of a place. There are nicely dressed guys and good looking girls there MOST of the time with a relaxed prevailing atmosphere. That is until you hit the bar. I'm almost not too upset about the $10 drinks, but rather more upset that they overcharged me $110+! Word to the wise: NEVER HAND OVER YOUR CREDIT CARD! Always pay with cash IF you decide to go here. The ULTRA lounge has a tendancy to be ULTRA FRAUDULANT. It has been over a week and still haven't had any words with management. I will pursue action with the credit card company if there is no response soon.

Not such a great experience.

Not only did the man at the door make a crude comment about my favorite slip-ons, the bar overcharged me $41. They made me feel right at home (back with my abusive parents). I guess when your business is 4 stories above ground, it's hard to be down to earth.
