Do you own a HD TV? - 2006/03/09 17:26 I've been looking at these for years and now that they are finally dropping in price to where a normal person can afford them I was thinking of picking one up. Does anybody else own or suggest a brand / technology (Plasma, LCD, DLP)? Golf Advice | Priceless Pics and Jokes

Re:Do you own a HD TV? - 2006/03/14 00:22 OK DLP, thats not flat panel is it?

Plasma is older there from cheaper , but LCD aren't much higher. I think the LCD have a better picture, the colors seem to pop more.

just my opinion though

Re:Do you own a HD TV? - 2006/03/14 02:19 DLP is a flat screen design, but not a thin TV. They are typically 13-20" deep, not nearly as deep as the old tube or projection tv's though.

Plasma and LCD are about the same in age, and they both have their pros and cons. LCD in the past has not be very good at fluid pictures, pictures with a lot of color. However they would blow away the competition for still displays such as computer monitors and similar.

Plasma in the past had a bad rap for getting 'burn in' but I believe this problem has been resolved in the newer models.

As for pricing I believe you will find that they increase from DLP - LCD - Plasma with there being a fine line between LCD and Plasma. Both I believe still cost more only because of the thin design.

I'm sure you'll be happy with any of the technologies, just do your homework and test drive as many as possible.

  • Penalizing the uninsured in Oklahoma
Oklahoma must take drastic steps to improve its dismal ranking in the number of residents who have no health insurance, state Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland said Thursday during her agency’s Summit on the High Cost of Health Insurance. Barring a law requiring the purchase of health insurance, which Holland concedes would be a political long shot, "inducements” that penalize those who fail to insure themselves would help, she said.

Among the possible inducements Holland proposed was forfeiture of football season tickets to University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma State University games, forfeiture of lottery or gaming winnings, loss of state income tax deductions or licenses to

  • Nebraska lawmakers put age cap in safe-haven law
LINCOLN, Neb. - The surprising and seemingly endless stream of teenagers dropped off at Nebraska hospitals over the last two months likely will come to an end Saturday. The Nebraska Legislature on Friday gave final approval, with a 43-5 vote, to a bill that puts a 30-day age limit on children who can be dropped off under the state's safe-haven law. Gov. Dave Heineman was expected to sign the bill Friday afternoon, making the law go into effect at 12:01 a.m. CST Saturday. Nebraska will join 13 other states with a 30-day age cap. It has been the only state with a safe-haven law that that lacks an age limit. "I think this solves the immediate problem of adolescents being abandoned," said Sen. Kent Rogert of Tekamah.
