Best Honky Tonks - 2006/11/20 16:35 Hey Oklahoma, I am looking for your favorite honky tonks. The more obscure the better. Not from your great state but love the red dirt scene. Give me some help for my next road trip.
Thanks.

Re:Best Honky Tonks - 2006/11/22 19:40 There is Tumbleweed in Stillwater, which is actually closing down at the end of this year. They are however putting on concerts until then and having a closing party at the end of December.

In Tahlequah there is Roxies Roost out by the river. It's not exactly a 'Honky Tonk' bar but they do have live bands and have been know to have a few red dirt bands make it through.

Tulsa has Dirty's Tavern which has a wide array of bands playing.

I'm rusty on the city... maybe someone else can help you out with that one.

Re:Best Honky Tonks - 2006/11/24 11:53 In OKC the wormy dog is prob the top honky tonk. But you wont find to many of them in the city. The best honky tonks come from small towns in the middle of nowhere. I haven't gone honky tonk hunting, but maybe i should take it up. I know theres one in Stroud, and a couple of rough ones in Cushing.

A Oklahoma City man accused of killing the mother of his unborn child today left his fate in the hands of an Oklahoma County judge.

Eric Kennedy Phan pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.
